Scottie Scheffler says he is “living out his dreams” after winning the Open Championship at Royal Portrush.
Scottie Scheffler said he’s “living out his dreams” winning the Open; however, he reminded everyone, “there’s more to life than golf.”
The 29-year-old world No. 1 stayed calm, maintaining his four-shot lead to secure victory on the final day.
With four majors in three years and an Olympic gold medal to his name, Scheffler now stands one win away from completing a career Grand Slam, needing only a US Open title to join an exclusive group of seven players to achieve the feat.

Scheffler questioned his motivations for golf, calling it “not fulfilling” and wrestled with the relentless pursuit of victories.
After winning the Open, Scheffler admitted unclear wording; nevertheless, he stood by the core of his message.
“In today’s world, everything is clickbait, and a five-minute conversation gets boiled down to three words,” he explained. “I think that oversimplifies what I was trying to say. I’ve spent my entire life working hard to be good at this game and playing for a living. It’s one of the greatest joys of my life, and winning The Open is a feeling that’s tough to put into words.”
“Am I grateful for it? Absolutely. Do I enjoy it? Oh, yes, this is an amazing feeling. But success in life doesn’t always fulfill the deepest desires of your heart. “Winning a golf tournament doesn’t guarantee happiness, but I’m definitely excited to celebrate this victory,” Scheffler said.

‘When I saw my family, that was pretty special’
When it came time to celebrate, Scheffler couldn’t wait to share the moment with his family. After sinking the final putt and hearing the crowd’s cheers, his first instinct was to find his wife, Meredith.
Spotting his wife and son, Scheffler’s reserved demeanor turned to joy as he threw his hat and roared.
The family shared a heartfelt embrace before Scheffler retrieved his hat and carried Bennett in his left arm as they left the green together.

“When I saw my family, that was a very special moment,” Scheffler said. “It’s hard to describe, but it’s something I’ll always be grateful for and hold on to for a long time.”
Scheffler would quit golf if it hurt his family, but winning now brings immense joy and a deeper perspective.
