Bryson DeChambeau Triumphs in Playoff to Win LIV Golf South Africa Title
Bryson DeChambeau birdied the first playoff hole to defeat Jon Rahm and claim the inaugural LIV Golf South Africa title at Steyn City. The victory marked another strong performance from DeChambeau, who continues to dominate the tour.
After 72 holes, DeChambeau and Rahm remained tied, forcing a tense sudden-death playoff. However, DeChambeau stayed composed under pressure and seized the moment when it mattered most.
Although heavy rain fell over the closing holes, conditions improved before the playoff began. Bryson DeChambeau missed the fairway left, yet he recovered brilliantly. He struck a fairway wood to within 12 feet, setting up a strong eagle opportunity.
Meanwhile, Rahm found the fairway but struggled with his approach. He landed in a greenside bunker and faced a difficult up-and-down. As a result, he gained a clear advantage in the playoff.

At the start of the final round, Branden Grace came out firing. He birdied three of his first four holes to reach 22 under par and briefly take the lead. However, Bryson DeChambeau responded immediately with a birdie of his own.
Soon after, Bryson DeChambeau built momentum. He added two more birdies to reach 24 under, while Grace dropped a shot at the sixth. Consequently, he moved three shots clear early in the round.
DeChambeau extended his lead further at the ninth. He sank a 25-foot putt, moving to 25 under par. At that stage, Rahm and Puig trailed by three shots, but they remained within striking distance.

Rahm began to apply pressure on the back nine. He eagled the par-five 10th, cutting the deficit to just one shot. Nevertheless, Bryson DeChambeau answered with a birdie on the same hole to regain control.
Even so, Rahm refused to back down. He birdied the 14th, once again narrowing the gap to a single shot. DeChambeau maintained his composure, but the contest tightened as the round progressed.
Then, on the 16th hole, Rahm delivered another clutch birdie to draw level with the Crushers Captain. At that moment, the weather worsened, adding another layer of difficulty to an already intense battle.

Rahm had a golden chance on the 17th but narrowly missed his birdie putt. As a result, he headed to the final hole still tied with Bryson DeChambeau.
In heavy rain, Rahm failed to birdie the 18th and posted a score of 26 under par. This left the door open for DeChambeau to win outright.
However, he faced trouble off the tee. He drove into the left rough and could not reach the green in two. Instead, he attempted a recovery shot with a wood but found a greenside bunker.
Despite the setback, DeChambeau showed resilience. His bunker shot left a challenging up-and-down, yet he executed it perfectly. Therefore, DeChambeau forced a playoff and kept his hopes alive.
In the end, Bryson DeChambeau delivered when it mattered most, sealing another memorable victory.
